Lithium heparin preparation


In clinical testing, as many patients' conditions are highly variable, specimens need to be tested as they are tested, but sometimes the uncertainty of the timing of specimen testing can lead to a series of disputes as a better time for treatment is missed. In order to reduce disputes and improve the efficiency of testing, additives have been developed for use in test tubes, such as: sodium heparin, lithium heparin and potassium EDTA salt.

 

The use of lithium heparin is fast and efficient in stopping blood clotting compared to traditional anticoagulation and ensures that the indicators of blood components are not affected by external influences. However, despite the obvious advantages, care must be taken in the experimental process, as otherwise the specimen may also be affected by the test. A, lithium heparin preparation method

1Prepare a balance, different size volumetric flasks, beakers, deionized water and glass rods, wash bottles and other apparatus.


2Use the balance to accurately weigh the determined lithium heparin sample powder, pay attention to the precise value, then slowly pour the sample powder into the volumetric flask or beaker, and use the wash bottle to carefully wash the powder attached to the mouth of the flask or the wall of the tube into the bottle. During this process, note that the bottle containing the lithium heparin powder must not contain impurities or the phenomenon of oil, otherwise the finished configuration solution is damaged.


3Use distilled water or deionised water to dissolve, first add a certain amount of deionised water to the beaker to dissolve, while adding water, stir slowly with a glass rod, and then transfer to the volumetric flask after all dissolved. During this period, pay attention to the control of the amount of water added when dissolving, to clean the volumetric flask to leave a certain volume.


4After all the lithium heparin powder has dissolved, observe the graduated line of the volumetric flask and add deionised water slowly along the mouth wall of the flask with a wash bottle to keep the liquid level in line with the graduated line.

6Check the lithium heparin content and confirm whether it is up to standard and qualified.


B, lithium heparin additive concentration

The recommended additive amount in the industry standard is 9.4 IU-28 IU of lithium heparin per ml of blood, if the blood is collected at the end of the anticoagulation can be less than 14 IU per ml of blood. However, in practice, 15-20 IU of lithium heparin is usually recommended to anticoagulate 1 ml of blood, so that the experimental effect can reach the ideal state.
